General presentation of property

The Westport Property is located adjacent to the historic town of Barkerville in east-central British Columbia. The area was made famous by the Cariboo Gold Rush of the 1860s that produced an estimated 93 tons of placer gold. The property consists of 28 crown claims straddling two of the most productive streams of the Gold Rush: Williams Creek and Stouts Gulch. The claims include the historic Black Jack, Homestake, Cornish, and Wintrip claims, which are among longest continually maintained crown grants in British Columbia, first recorded in the 187Os. Some of the earliest lode gold mining in the province was attempted on the Black Jack claim. The property also directly adjoins that of International Wayside Gold Mines Ltd. (Wayside) who announced in 2000 the discovery of high-grade gold Bonanza Ledge deposit hosted in a new geologic setting from that of previously recognised to host gold mineralization in the area.

Mineral Resource Study summary

There have been numerous programs on the Westport claims since 1947. The list below summarizes the recent work.

2003 : Approximately 5,600 line meters of induced polarization survey was performed in September on five north-northeast lines in the northwest portion of the Westport property, approximately normal to the regional strike and adjacent to the International Wayside Gold Mines property. The survey was designed to test for the extension of the Bonanza Ledge to the west. An elongate anomaly with high chargeabililty and low resistivity was identified, approximating the projected trend of the Ledge.

A program of five NQ diamond drill holes, totalling 1007m, commenced in late September and was completed in early November. These targeted the chargeability and conductivity identified by the geophysical survey.
The table below summarizes significant mineralized intervals.

(*) A metallics check assay carried out on this sample returned 660g/t (19.25 oz/t gold).

2005 : A program of 6 NQ diamond drill holes, totalling 2,467m, was carried out in September. Holes DH-2005-1 to DH-2005-5 further tested the 2003 geophysical anomalies and the zone intersected by the 2003 drilling that reported elevated gold values. DH-2005-6, sited on Stouts Gulch tested the stratigraphy to the south of the Gulch.

Specific Advantage of property

  • The main advantage of the property is its location in the heart of rich, historical placer deposits.
  • In all likelihood the Bonanza Ledge and related/associated formations and structures continue southeastwards onto the Westport property. There is no reason at this time to think otherwise.
  • In addition to the potential for Bonanza Ledge - like deposits, gold-bearing quartz vein zones have been intersected in recent trench and drill programs. There is a potential of these constituting a mineral resource.

Next development phase

Further drilling is planned for the fall of 2006 to explore for the continuation of the Bonanza Ledge and related mineralized formations and structures.
